Early Life

Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah (رحمة الله عليه) was born around 1680 CE in Uch Sharif, a historic center of Islamic learning and spirituality.

He belonged to a respected Syed family. His father, Shah Muhammad Darwaish (رحمة الله عليه), was a religious scholar and teacher who later moved to Kasur.

From an early age, Bulleh Shah showed a deep interest in:

  • Worship and اخلاق (good character)

Education

Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah (رحمة الله عليه) received his early education from his father.

He later continued his studies in Kasur, which was an important center of learning at the time.

Hazrat Shah Inayat Qadiri (رحمة الله عليه) was a great Sufi saint of Lahore.

Under his guidance, Baba Bulleh Shah underwent intense spiritual training and purification of the nafs (self).

Spiritual Struggles and Transformation

One of the famous aspects of his life is his deep love and obedience to his Murshid.

There are narrations that due to certain misunderstandings, his Murshid distanced himself for a period. During this time, Bulleh Shah expressed deep repentance and humility, which is reflected in his poetry.
